GP referral scheme
The GP referral scheme at Melbourn Sports Centre lasts for 12 weeks and is supervised by qualified staff who will make sure that you will have a safe, effective and enjoyable start to an active, healthier lifestyle.
If you are referred to Melbourn Sports Centre by your GP, Practice Nurse, Consultant or other medical professional then the first step is to make an Assessment Appointment, this will be with one of our qualified GP referral instructors and will last approximately 45 minutes.
Please bring along your referral form to your Assessment Appointment for our instructor to review.
GP Referral Scheme Prices:
12 week course £72.50
£6.50 for the Initial Assessment followed by two instalments of £33.00 for the 12 weeks of classes.
The Initial Assessment and first instalment are payable at the start of the course. The second instalment is due after 6 weeks of the exercise classes.
GP Referral Scheme Information
At your Assessment Appointment you will need to complete a medical questionnaire and take part in an initial assessment. This assessment will involve cycling on an exercise bike or walking on a treadmill, so please wear loose comfortable clothing and soft soled shoes or trainers.
Our expert instructors will put together a personalised exercise programme which is based upon the results of your assessment and the reason for your referral.
Your programme will include 12 weeks of classes with 2 classes per week. These classes give you the chance to exercise in a group environment with other people on the scheme whilst supervised by the instructor. You will be issued with an attendance sheet to record what you have achieved in each session and your attendance. The classes take place:
- Evenings on Monday and Wednesday
- Mornings on Tuesday and Thursday
At the end of the 12 weeks course a Final Assessment will be conducted to show what you have achieved and encourage your new exercise regime to continue.
