At Melbourn Sports Centre we believe in offering high quality swimming tuition. All of our children's swimming lessons are structured within a comprehensive syllabus focused on helping your child to improve water skills and level of water confidence.
Our full time school swimming lessons are for children of school age only. Each lesson runs for between 30 to 60 minutes over a period of 10-14 weeks (depending upon ability). You can enrol a child for these lessons at any age.
Courses are paid for on a termly basis.
From £4.25 - £6.15 per lesson.
Monday to Thursday 15.45 - 18.15
Friday 15.45 - 18.15.
Saturday 8.45 - 12.15
Developing basic safety awareness, the ‘class’ scenario, basic movement skills and water confidence skills. Swimmers may use aids, e.g. arm bands, floats etc.
Developing safe entries to the water, including jumping, basic floating, travel and rotation unaided to regain upright positions. Swimmers may use aids, floats etc.
Developing safe entries including submersion, travel up to 10 metres on the front and back, progress rotation skills and water safety knowledge.
Developing the understanding of buoyancy through a range of skills, refining kicking technique for all strokes, and swimming 10 metres to a given standard as directed by the A.S.A.
Developing ‘watermanship’ through sculling and treating water skills, and complete rotation. Performing all strokes to the given standard as directed by the A.S.A.
Developing effective swimming skills including co-ordinated breathing; developing the water safety aspects and understanding of preparation for exercise.
Developing quality stroke technique up to 100 metres, incorporating skills learnt and combining them to develop a linked routine and complete a successfully an obstacle course that combines a variety of skills accomplished throughout stages 1 – 7.
Develop an excellent standard for all strokes. Demonstrate good turn technique on both front & back; this group will be working to improve their stamina and strength.
Must be able to demonstrate a high level of skill in all of the four strokes over a distance of approximately 400 metres; comfortable at a competitive level for which they will be building towards improving their stamina and strength.
Must be able to demonstrate a high level of skill in all of the four strokes over a distance of approximately 400 metres and have the endurance to swim for 1 hour.
These lessons are offered on a first come first served basis and a waiting list is operated.
